Ascension proudly sponsors a free continuing education course for architects, titled “Vertical Lift Innovations.” This hour-long course is designed to keep practicing architects up-to-date on accessibility laws and the benefits of specifying Vertical Platform Lifts (VPLs) to facilitate accessibility. At its conclusion, the course provides one continuing education unit (CEU) as well as a certificate of completion.
“Vertical Lift Innovations” covers:
- Current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) standards and regulatory requirements as they pertain to architectural design;
- Categories and design variations of VPLs;
- Features and current design trends in VPLs;
- …and much more!
“Vertical Lift Innovations” is available through AEC Daily, an online education developer.
Why It Matters
In most states, architects are required to accumulate CEUs in order to maintain their license. However, the subject matter as well as the number of CEU hours an architect must complete varies from state to state. In addition, any organization that an architect is a member of, such as the American Institute of Architects (AIA) may also have additional CEU requirements.
Requiring licensed architects to complete CEU courses ensures that each architect is keeping informed of the latest information regarding all aspects of their industry. Accordingly, there are several ways that an architect might meet their requirements, including:
- Online courses through professional education providers and industry organizations
- Lunch and learn courses provided through industry organizations and education providers
- Workshops and seminars available at the annual AIA Conference in Architecture
